The
multitude of currents - the economic fissures,
inflationary pressures, and the conflicting
political positions, juxtaposed with efforts
to establish democratic practice - illustrate
that there is no easy solution for the
Maldives. One can only hope that there
will be a rapid return to a democratic,
participatory and non-violent procedure
to work things out for the ''many Maldives''.
