8th Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences Buenos Aires, Argentina, 19-23 November 2018.

IDEAs organized a panel session at the Clacso Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on “Restructuring post the 2008 crisis and the new challenges for developing countries” as part of the South-South Forum of the conference. This panel brought together IDEAs members from India, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The Indian EC members also made presentations and had discussions on industrial policy at CEPAL, Buenos Aires. This also provided an opportunity for the Executive Secretary and Treasurer of IDEAs to discuss with EC members of Latin America about the possibilities of strengthening IDEAs in the region, including bringing in more Spanish language activities. IDEAs also hopes to work more with regional organisations like ECLAC (CEPAL) in Latin America in future.
