Sir Hans Singer: Advocating a Fair Distribution of the Fruits of Progress Kunibert Raffer

With the sad demise of Sir Hans Singer, best known for his pioneering work on the declining terms of trade experienced by developing countries on which policy prescriptions of industrialisation, diversification and soft financing for developing countries were based later on, an important era in the evolution of development economics has come to an end. In this paper, Kunibert Raffer of the Vienna University offers an eclectic summary of the former’s contributions to development theory and practice.
