This paper examines India's experience
with the growth of the Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) sector
and discusses various policy implications
for realisation of the potential of this
sector. The author argues that unless
the State plays a more important role,
it will be difficult to meet the challenge
that the IT revolution sets for a developing
country like India.
