About the Author
Utsa Patnaik is Professor of Economics at the
Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal
Nehru University, New Delhi. She is the author
of 'The Long Transition: Essays on Political
Economy' (1999); 'Peasant Class Differentiation:
A Study in Method with Reference to Haryana'
(1987); 'The Agrarian Question and the Development
of Capitalism in India' (1985). She has also
edited several collections including 'Chains
of servitude : bondage and slavery in India'
(with Manjari Dingwaney) and 'The Agrarian Question
in Marx and His Successors'.
