Rethinking Economics for Africa (REFA) Festival 2023 7 to 8 September 2023 | WITS Science Stadium, WITS University, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The three week countdown to this year’s Rethinking Economics for Africa (REFA) Festival from 7 to 8 September 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa, has begun! If you haven’t done so yet, REGISTER!

This year IDEAs is happy to be a Festival organising partner, to have our resource people contribute to the programme, and to have alumni from our certificate programme attend in person.

The Festival will host a diverse range of speakers, student activists, prominent academics, and civil society organisations from across the African continent and the globe!

The four thematic streams this year are:

Stream 1 | From climate crisis to climate action.
Stream 2 | Intersectional feminism: The struggle for equality.
Stream 3 | Global financial architecture and heterodox macroeconomics.
Stream 4 | New, alternative, hidden, and emergent forms of work and knowledge.
