Latin America in the World Reorganization. How to overcome the Regional Backlog? IDEAs-LAC Inaugural Conference, 5 -7 October 2022, Mexico City.
IDEAs and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is organizing an Inaugural Conference on the theme “Latin America in the Global Reordering: How to Overcome the Backlog?” on October 5-7. 2022 at Mexico City.
The seminar aims to discuss the old and new challenges for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the regions of the Global South in the the context of not fully overcome effects of the 2008 global financial crisis, the Sar-Cov2 s and the ongoing conflagration in Ukraine.
As is well known and has widely debated, Latin America and the Caribbean region has not registered adequate growth rates over the last four decades to generate productive employment to reduce income inequality and the high level of economic and employment informality. Among others, they have failed to overcome dependence on raw materials and technology exports. Of particular concern have been the problems encountered in undertaking economic recovery and counteracting the effects of the pandemic, especially in terms of inequality and poverty and the consequences of these on economic growth and social stability. Of particular concern have been the problems encountered in undertaking economic recovery and counteracting the effects of the pandemic, especially in terms of inequality and poverty and their impact on economic growth and social stability.
The IDEAs-LAC research network has been open to discussing these problems, allowing the elucidation of development strategies that meet social demands for equity, inclusion, and environmental and social security. In this context, the objective of the event we invite is to explore possible solutions based on an axis that crosses political, economic, and social issues for each nation.
