Conference on Work and Well-being in the 21st Century Gender Links Cottages, Johannesburg, South Africa, 5 - 7 April 2019.
International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs) is organizing a conference over two and a half days during 5-7 April 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The first day of the conference will look specifically at issues of women’s work. The initial set of discussions will be on a set of papers resulting from a research project on “The gender implications of formalizing the informal economy”, based on a grant from Open Society Foundations, with case studies of Ghana, India, Morocco, South Africa and Thailand. The results of these studies will be presented at the conference. This will be followed by a panel discussion on emerging issues in work and well-being in South Africa.
The second and third days will be focused on issues of inequality, labour markets and macroeconomics of employment generation.
The overall theme of the conference is “Work and well-being in the 21st century”.
